Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30
Today I honor the three most influential women in my life! Each one of these phenomenal women of substance have run their earthly race, and are now in Glory beholding the Beautiful Face of Jesus Christ. They have played an integral part in helping me become the faith-filled woman of substance I am today!
My biological mother, a woman of faith and prayer; Elaine, I salute you for your courage, determination, long suffering and your faith in God, the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
It took great courage to walk away from domestic violence with your three young daughters and raise us single-handedly. Mommy your determination and long suffering in the midst of very challenging circumstances as you carved out a new life for us in the zenith of racial segregation in our country, was bold and courageous. Your “gentle” defiance in the face of the “group areas act” which tried to keep us off the “whites-only” beaches and other amenities, is fondly remembered by me to this day! Your faith in God through your personal relationship with Jesus Christ His son, was solid even in the midst of all the adversity you faced.
Thank you for never giving up on me, always praying for me and handing over the baton of faith to me five years before you left this world for eternity!
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. 1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV
Lynette Matthews, I’m so thankful to God for using your gentle and quiet spirit to lead me to Jesus Christ. Your beautiful countenance and Godly wisdom and prayers for, and with me, has given me eternal peace and a beautiful living hope! Before getting saved you tortured me by playing TD Jake’s sermons in your little yellow car as we drove to work! Nevertheless, he became one of my favorite preachers!
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. James 5:19-20
Rae Leeman, my spiritual mother and mentor for over a decade. Always guiding and advising me from God’s Word. A true prayer warrior and intercessor of note. No matter how dark or deep the crises was that I was facing, you were not judgemental and loved me into my new life in Christ Jesus!
She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26
I miss each one of you. And salute you on this Women’s Day for running your race well and finishing the work God gave each of you to do. To God be the Glory and the highest praise for the great things He has done through your beautiful lives!
Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31: 31
Until we meet again in Eternity!
