Even from Heaven, the holiest place in the universe, God looks down and pays attention to the widow, and He makes defending the cause of widows and their offsprings a priority!
In ancient Israel, widows were not highly favored. And in today’s culture, not much has changed. In many parts of the world, widows are amongst the most marginalized in society. Unfortunately, in the absence of an earthly husband to provide for, and protect their wives and children, predatory bullies sieze the opportunity to victimize and prey on them.
But the reality is that God is not asleep on His Heavenly Throne, and He will right every wrong committed against the widow and her offsprings!
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling Psalm 68:5
For your Maker is your husband, the LORD of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called." Isaiah 54:5: "
An excerpt from the inspirational Non-fiction book: From The Pit to The Palace, A Story of Redemption:
Tragically, we were living in what I often referred to as “Widowberg Road”, not only because it rhymed with the name of the street we lived on, but because most of the families who moved into that section were single parent households headed up by mothers. Most of them used alcohol to cope with the pressure of the responsibility of raising their families alone, often with only one income per household. I suppose the alcohol was used to numb the pain of rejection, and the feeling of abandonment brought about by the fathers abdicating their roles and responsibilities to provide for, and protect their wives and children. Sadly the resulting divorces, and in some cases, the death of a spouse, caused the mothers to be doubled over in emotional pain and unable to cope with their load. Children were left without positive role models and mentors to emulate and guide them through the maze of life. Most of the mothers worked full time during the week, and over weekends they would drink and party, very often leaving the children to their own devices. In some cases, these adults would encourage their own children, as well as youngsters from other households to partake in drunkenness and the inevitable debauchery which followed. Some of these mothers turned a blind eye and allowed the men they partied with to sexually molest and abuse their own, as well as other children, right under their noses.
May this inspiring true story help you on your journey to wholeness and purpose.
