2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV): We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by life’s circumstances, as wave after wave of difficulty keeps crashing over you? You don’t know what to do, or where to turn for help?
You may have received a bad health report, your marriage seems to be falling apart, you may have seemingly never-ending challenges within your family, or your dire financial situation seems to be threatening your very livelihood!
The list of challenges we face seems endless as wave after wave of difficulty just keeps knocking us down. We feel that we have no strength left to get up again! Fearing that another tumultuous wave will knock us off our feet! The fear is debilitating!
The Bible states 365 times: “Fear not!” As overwhelming as our situations may seem, remember that we have the Power of the Living God ready to help us if we just ask Him. The same Power that raised Jesus from the dead, the Holy Spirit, is our Helper, and Friend who sticks closer than a brother. He is the Spirit of Truth and is a very present help in our time of need! He never leaves us, nor will He forsake us! He is Emmanuel, God with us.
The Apostle Paul went through overwhelming challenges:
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NIV): We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
So, take heart and strengthen yourself in the Lord because this too shall pass. God is Sovereign over all, and His mercies are new every morning. His loving kindness endures forever!
In the words of a well-known song: “When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with you above the storm. Jesus You are King over the flood, I will be still and know that You are God! Psalm 46:10
